What is Qtum?
Qtum (QTUM) is a project developed by the Singapure-based QTUM Foundation, with Patrick Dai being its CEO. It's a decentralized platform and currency that functions on a unique Proof of Stake algorithm. It was created with the purpose of providing a platform for the development of decentralized applications, Qtum claims to be combining a version of bitcoin core with the Ethereum Virtual Machine. The project's team claims that the backwards compatibility Qtum provides between Ethereum contracts and bitcoin gateways is to be maintained.
